After attending a bunch of sessions all revolving around everything WordPress at WordCamp US in Philadelphia this past December, I assembled this short list of Google-related trends and things to consider in the upcoming year:
• Google will compel all WordPress sites to have SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) which means the standard prefix of http:// will now change to the more secure https:// prefix on all site URLs). SSL is provided by your website hosting service, and providees the technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private.
• Google is developing some amazing new features, like voice activation, language translations, and other innovations that are on the brink of becoming publicly available.
• Google mobile and search functions for improved website speed and security
